Stimulating Creativity

The Creativity Stimulation Workshop has been organized as a part of 'Science Empowerment Program' by Suyam Charitable Trust and PRM Trust, for a healthy interaction with our younger generation. This workshop has been conducted under Seva Talent organized by CIOSA, on the occasion of Seva Mela 2008 at Valluvarkottam, Nungambakkam, Chennai on 15/03/2008 and 16/03/2008. More than 900 students from various schools and colleges in and around Chennai, participated on those two days. There was a main introductory event through PowerPoint presentations and short documentary films to provide the children a brief world view. There were seven main events in which thirteen types of competitions were held. The motivation behind the theme has been to impart with seriousness, sensitivity and also to give a direction for their thought process. This was also intended to give an understanding about scientific thought and also social responsibility.

The name of the events as per the Event Chart:

1. Express the views and opinions.

2. Express the doubts.

3. Express the way something is observed.

4. Express the way something is understood.

5. Express the feelings.

6. Share the feelings.

7. Express the inner feelings.

There were writing essays, stories, poems, drawing & painting and discussion and debate competitions. As a whole, there were thirteen competitions.

These competitions enabled the students to get a comprehensive understanding of our Nation and the World and also to understand their roles with a direction for their progress and also the Nation. This will also enable the students to realize about their inbuilt talents and skills and will increase their self confidence.

The contents and the methodology of this work shop have been scrupulously designed after rigorous research and also continued interaction with students for more than one and half decades, with an objective to interact with the strengths of children instead of their weakness. There were lively interactions among the participants, organizers and also judges. The enthusiasm of students was clearly visible during all the interactions. The price winning participants were selected in the most transparent way when all the participants were also involved in the process of selection. All the students felt that this particular workshop was unique in kind and gave them altogether different experiences.

This program also includes a book release function. A book titled "Nature's Grievance" sponsored by Mother India Foundation has been published by Mr. Raja Hussain, NSS Co-ordinator, University of Madras, Chennai. The book priced Rs.10/-. Interested can buy.
